She played a pivotal role in an off-Broadway play called ‘The Sea Horse.’ The critics loved her performance so much that she won three awards for her work. Quickly after, Hollywood came knocking. She signed her first TV series, Maude, and months later, a second TV series, Hot L Baltimore.

Conchata racked up plenty of TV credits in a short amount of time, and in 1975 she made her silver screen debut with ‘Deadly Hero.’ Then in 1979, she did some great work in a blockbuster movie called ‘Heartland.’ Her role as an essayist earned her the Bronze Wrangler Western Award.

After that, it was just role after role in TV series, big-budget movies, commercials and critical cinema. One of her biggest roles was in L.A. Law, where she played Susan Bloom. That role earned her the first nomination for Primetime Emmy Awards in the Best Supporting Actress category.
